New Earth Operations
N.E.O is a science-fiction action game, which takes place in 2050. It follows the paths of two genetically enhanced beings; Blade and And Ace. You have the option of choosing one of them, which means there are two different storylines. The game is full of interesting story-enhancing cinemas, action-pumped engines and mini-games and more. It even features a techno soundtrack by Jacob Hammond. So get ready for this fast-paced action game!
King's Quest ZZT 2
The huge sequel to the classic King's Quest ZZT. While Prince Alexander is staying in the Elven Village, the castle of Daventry is attacked by the soldiers of the Relentless Army and your parents have been kidnapped. This is the start of another long and epic adventure! King's Quest ZZT 2 provides you with a damn lot of action and adventure, great graphics, cool music and much more! The game is 3 ZZT files long and it never gets boring.
Voyage of Four
Voyage of Four is a long and epic cinema that has a very interesting and well-written plot. Much unlike other interactive movies, this one is non-linear and has different endings. It features several very nifty engines and awesome music, as we've pretty much come to expect from WiL. If you like interactive movies, a good and serious story and fine PC speaker tunes, this is definitely a must-download for you!
Interstellar Police: Escape Stall' Prison
This game was actually finished about a year before it came out. For some reason, Robert never released it. He touched up the graphics, improved and added few things and had it beta-tested again. The result is really good! In its true nature, this game falls under the genre 'adventure', but you could also call it an atmospheric thriller. It is actually one of the very few ZZT games that scares you (well, at least me) at some points. It has a really dark and moody atmosphere and at some points (except for the boards near the ending), the suspense might kill you. This game also features some neat graphics (though Rob himself claims they are outdated and he can do even better), a nice title them and some good gameplay.
Run-on is probably one of the most well-programmed ZZT games out there! It's basically a really good random level generator with a scrolling engine. It's kind of hard to explain, but it's really innovative. This game features a lot of different worlds as well. It's also pretty long, but still full of variation, unlike most other games using randomly generated level engines. The plot, which does not matter much in this game (it's all about the action), is rather trippy and the graphics are good.
You are Rash'Tan Ythraqi and you have been studying Drow (Dark Elf) history for quite some years now. Nothing much happened during those years, but one day, Fhallah the hunter enters the tavern when you are having lunch with your friend Rykja and reports shocking news. A dead Dark Elf has been found in the Zhymae Woods, just outside the village of Ob'Awscwadi. You go and check it out, accompanied by Fhallah and it is the start of a strange, cruel and long adventure full twists. Deceiving Guidance provides you with dungeon-crawling and RPGing, and it's full of action and story-telling. The soundtrack has been done by master-composers WiL, Jacob Hammond and Jojoisjo.
Scorched Earth ZZT
This is great and extremely well-programmed ZZT conversion of Wendell Hicken's oldschool and high addictive PC game, Scorched Earth. You have the option of playing a predefined level or a randomly generated level and all games are in 2 player mode. The engine itself has a few bugs, but that's no surprise, seeing how complex it is. However, most of these bugs can be avoided by reading the instructions/info carefully. This small game that was basically made to show the Scorched Earth ZZT engine is definitely worth the download!
largoABRAXIS is a small action-type game that only works with one counter (torches). It's rather original, has good graphics and it's pretty enjoyable. The story is an interesting one as well. It's about the horse Abraxas (that pulled Apollo's chariot). Its heart has been broken and shattered into several pieces, called the Abraxes. One of the Abraxes that has never been found back, is Largo Abraxis. a group of small wizards believe this one is extremely powerful. You are Mantir, a being that lives of heat, created by the group of wizards to find the Largo Abraxis.
Tetris is a great conversion of the ever-so-popular arcade game to MegaZeux! It plays smoother than Asterick's MZXTetris and works well. It requires MZXak, an MZX update by Akwende, to run. This means it uses 4 color chars and several extra MZX options. MZXak can be grabbed from the IF page as well. Be sure to check this awesome-looking and well-programmed puzzle game!
Operation: Obrian-2 is longer and more action-packed than its predecessor, released last year. Spanned over two ZZT files, O:O-2 will give you tons of action, exploring and DNA-sequencing. It's a rather hard game, but it's enjoyable as it is, with great graphics and an awesome soundtrack by Jacob Hammond (aka aetsch), who also did the soundtrack of Chase's previous game, N.E.O. disc 1. If you like science-fiction and Chase's previous games, this is definitely a must-have.
2000 years ago the Sartan went to a place called The Vortex to sunder the world into multiple realms, in order to reform it and to lock their enemies, the Patryn, in a realm called The Labyrinth. Now a powerful sorceror, called Lord Xar, has broken through the final gate of The Labyrinth, which locked up the Patryn for many, many years. You are Haplo, a Patryn and find out Lord Xar has breached The Labyrinth's final gate. Lord Xar comes up to you and takes you out of The Labyrinth. Then he suddenly disappears. He's coming back, though, and not without something to say..
Death Gate is IF's group project that was started back in 1998. It was cancelled and revived in the end of 1999. It turned out smaller than expected, but it's still a good group project with adventure, action, puzzle and RPG elements. It also has a soundtrack by WiL and aetsch.
Chase released Boof 1 and 2 quite a while ago, but now completely redid the graphics, fixed bugs and added new dialogue. And even more important: Chase included a third disc and finished the trilogy. It's about an anti-hero Gerbil named Boof, who is given super powers, and forced to fight a group of evil superpowered animals, who are bent on taking over a small town of mice by the name of Mouseopolis. Boof soon learns of the darker scheme behind what lies ahead and soon has to fight the ones in charge.
Mazi Oog is a small action-type game that takes place in dark, trippy boards. It has some rather good programming and even though it may be confusing at first, it's rather interesting. A small, fun game.
Who hasn't played it or at least heard of it? Pac-man, one of the most famous games ever. It's been ported to ZZT by Lynx and remade WiL, released under the IF label. I'll have to add that they did a great job and made an excellent ZZT version, powered by a font. If you're a fan of Pac-man, certainly play this smooth and well-done ZZT version.
Pipeline 99 is a collection of 99 Pipeline levels. WiL uses an improved version of Question Mark's original Pipeline engine. It's mainly about using tools to move a ball into an exit, and it marginally resembles the classic PC game "Incredible Machine". All in all, a very long and good puzzles; a definite must-play for die hards.
